Manual Reset

1. Turn off the ignition.
2. Press and hold the TRIP ODOMETER button in the instrument cluster and turn the ignition to Accessory 1 – do not start the engine.
3. Keep the button pressed for 5 seconds until OIL SERVICE RESET (RE) or INSPECTION RESET (RE) appears in the display. Then release the button.
4. Press and hold the button again for 5 seconds until RE or RESET flashes in the display. Then release the button.

6. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2004-2005

1. Turn ignition on but do not start engine.
2. Press the RESET button on the top left side of the instrument cluster for 10 seconds to display a four (4) line menu in the speedometer.
3. Press the RESET button or LOWER AXIAL (FAS) button on the turn signal/high beam switch to scroll through the menu.
4. Select ENGINE OIL and press the RESET button for a few seconds to display a two (2) line menu in the tachometer.
5. Press the RESET (or AXIAL) button to select the SERVICE AND MAINTENANCE.
6. Press the RESET button again for a few seconds.
7. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

2006-2012

BMW recommends the use of a reset tool.

Manual Reset

1. Turn ignition to Terminal 15 which is one turn of the key or one press of the START/STOP button.
2. Press and hold the Instrument Cluster Set/Reset button for 10 seconds.
3. The upper display in the Instrument Cluster will be illuminated with a Service Item. The lower display in the Instrument Cluster will indicate the remaining time or mileage left for that Service Item. Pressing the button repeatedly will allow the display to scroll through all of the Condition Based Service Items.
4. Press and hold the Instrument Cluster Set/Reset button again and the lower display screen will indicate “”OK”” or “”DUE””.”
5. Pressing the Instrument Cluster Set/Reset button again will allow the “”RESET”” to appear in the lower window for that service. Releasing and reapplying the button one more time will reset the service displayed in the upper window only. ”
6. Turn the ignition off and start the engine to verify the indicator has been reset.

Service oil reset Mercedes Benz S – Class

1997-1999
*Diagnostic Reset Tool Required
Turn key in steering lock to position 2.
Within 4 seconds press button (1) left of speedometer twice.
The present status for days or distance displays, within 10 seconds turn key in steering lock to position 0.
Press and hold button (1), while turning key in steering lock to position 2 again. The present status for days or distance displays once more.
Continue to hold button (1) for approximately 10 seconds until a signal sounds and the display shows 10 000 mils or 15 000km. Release button (1).

2000-2004
Turn on the ignition (standard display of the control system appears).
Press button (UP arrow) or (DOWN arrow) on the multifunction steering wheel until the FSS indicator with (Single Wrench) or (Double Wrench) and the service deadline appears in the multifunction display.
Press the reset knob to the right in the instrument cluster for about 2 seconds. This message appears in the multifunction display: “SERVICE INTERVAL? RESET WITH R BUTTON”.
To confirm hold down the reset button until you hear a signal. The service indicator now displays the reset interval.

Service oil reset Mercedes Benz E – Class

1997-2000

Manual Reset:
Turn key in steering lock to position 2.
Within 4 seconds press 0 button twice.
The present status for days or distance displays, within 10 seconds turn the electroninc key in steering lock to position 0.
Press and hold 0 button while turning electronic key in steering loack to position 2 again. The present status for days or distance displays once more. Continue to hold 0 button for approximately 10 seconds until a signal sounds and the display shows 10 000 (15000KM) for approximately 10 seconds.
Release 0 button, the status is reset.
2001-2002

Manual Reset:
Turn key in steering lock to position 2.
To call up the trip odometer and main odometer, press either of lower two buttons on left hand side of steering wheel (system select – looks like file folder) until the display appears.
Press either of the top buttons on steering wheel (arrows) until the FSS indicator appears.
Press R button on the instrument cluster for 2-4 seconds.
The display reads “DO YOU WANT TO RESET SERVICE INTERVAL? CONFIRM BY PRESSING R”
Press R button on the instrument cluster again and hold until signal sounds. The message “SERVICE INTERVAL HAS BEEN RESET” appears in the multifunction display.
2003-2004
Turn on the ignition (standard display of the control system appears).
Press button (UP arrow) or (DOWN arrow) on the multifunction steering wheel until the FSS indicator appears in the display.
Press the reset knob for about 5 seconds until the SERVICE MENU appears in the multifunction display.
Select the CONFIRMATION menu with the (+) or (-) button.
Press the menu button (looks like file 2 over lapping file folders).
The service indicator now displays the CONFIRMATION menu. The selection marker is on CONFIRM. Press the menu button (looks like 2 over lapping file folders). The service indicator now displays the CONFIRM menu. The selection marker is on STANDARD OIL.
Press the menu button (looks like 2 over lapping file folders). The words SERVICE CONFIRMED appear in the multifunction display. The service indicator is now reset.
Press the menu button on the multifunction steering wheel until the standard display appears in the multifunction display.
